Kozzie - signs for second time at the laneUnited had already recorded 1-0 losses at Mansfield Town and Burton Albion before playing a mini Steel City Clash at the Don Valley Stadium against League Two side Rotherham United.

On the night the Blades record that defeat at Albion a scratch reserve and youth squad win 3-2 at Dinnington Town.

A day later the Cutlers complete the season’s long loan deal with Sunderland for defender Nyron Nosworthy, it is also believed that a permanent deal can also be completed upon completion of the loan. Blades-Mad also learn that former Sheffield United and Derby County midfielder Lee Morris joins non-league outfit Kidderminster Harriers on a free transfer.

The rumour mill churns yet again as Kevin Blackwell is linked with Ipswich Town defender Alex Bruce, his father Steve was once player/manager of Sheffield United.

The mini Derby at the Don valley Stadium ended in a two-nil victory to the visitors; it was a poor first half as far as the Red and White Wizards were concerned but they came out in the second and with goals from new boys Johannes Ertl (header) and a Daniel Bogdanovic penalty after he was tripped in the box gave Kevin Blackwell’s men a deserved victory.

A day later the Football Masters took place at the Sheffield Arena with the former Blades facing Huddersfield Town (lost 2-1) and Sheffield Wednesday (lost 4-2). South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley won a place in the final; beating the Owls on penalties.

Former Blade Robert Kozluk signs a contract after a successful trial whilst other trialists learn that they will not be offered deals for the Bramall Lane club.

A few days later; on the Tuesday night the Blades played their final friendly during the month on July – in an entertaining fixture the Blades came away 1-0 winners with Welsh international Ched Evans grabbing the only goal of the game against Craig Short’s Nott’s County.

United also learn that former Reading and Watford striker Darius Henderson will require another hamstring operation and will be out of action for a further four months.
