Sheffield United vs. Coventry City (Part 2)

Last updated : 11 December 2015 By @blades_mad1889

Owing to Coventry City's exit from the FA Cup First Round, losing by two goals to one at home to Northampton Town, the Sky Blues last outing came on 28th November, drawing 2-2 with Doncaster Rovers. Their last five League One fixtures has seen them unbeaten, winning three - including the dramatic 4-3 win over Barnsley, and drawing two. You have to go all the way back to 26 September since the Midlands side last lost in the league and after a good start to the season has seen them fly up the table.

By the time this game with Sheffiedl United kick-off Coventry City, currently in second spot behind Burton Albion, copuld see themselves 4th should other results go against them.

Coventry were guilty of twice throwing away a lead to draw 2-2 with Doncaster at the Ricoh Arena. They only had themselves to blame as twice sloppy play allowed Nathan Tyson to net in the second half. Adam Armstrong fired the home side in front on the half-hour mark and the home side looked totally in control But Coventry looked guilty of believing their own hype at the start of the second half and it cost them dear when some sloppy defending allowed Nathan Tyson to equalise in the 53rd minute.

John Fleck gave the ball away in midfield and then goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook failed to hold the shot from Andy Williams, allowing Tyson a tap-in. Five minutes later, though, Fleck made up with a long range shot which went through a crowd of players and in off a post. That looked to have restored some justice but in the 72 minute Fleck passed across the face of his own goal and presented Tyson with the easiest of strikes. The Rovers' front man then hit the bar two minutes into injury time.

Joe Cole could make his Coventry return after missing five games in a bid to regain his fitness. The Aston Villa loanee has been given time to completely sort any lingering fitness issues by boss Tony Mowbray and may make his comeback.

James Maddison is also in contention after being out since August with an ankle injury. He came through 62 minutes of the Under-21s' 1-0 win over Birmingham on Monday. Martin Lorentzson signed until the end of the season on Tuesday after a successful trial and the Swedish defender is available.
