With just 11 days to go until the red and white wizards kick-off their League One campaign at Boundary Park, they finalise their preparations with two tricky pre-season clashes against Championship outfits, beginning tonight with the visit of Doncaster Rovers to Bramall Lane.

Blackpool travel to Sheffield this Sunday, but Danny Wilson's attentions are fixed on a derby with our neighbours from down the M18.

They bring a squad to the Lane which is most likely to involve former Blades striker Billy Sharp, who sparked a few fireworks let's say, when the two sides met competitively in the npower Championship last season, a game which saw a late comeback from United to draw 2:2. Sharp's over the top goal celebrations against the club he 'supports' and he used to play for didn't go down too well in the home areas of the stadium.

United remain unbeaten in pre-season, having drawn 1:1 with Sheffield FC, beating Worksop Town 1:0 and then dispatching Maltese sides Sliema Wanderers and Hibernians 3:1 and 2:1 respectively.

Meanwhile, Rovers were defeated by one goal to nil at the weekend when they travelled north to Carlisle.

United are hoping involve a number of trialists in the game tonight. German defender Alex Kruk, who has been involved in three of the Blades' pre-season games on a trial basis, is going to have another chance to impress.

Former Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner, who had a loan spell at Preston North End last season, is also going to be tried and tested. Kevin McDonald, the former Burnley midfielder, is also poised to feature.
