Stocksbridge Park Steels vs. Sheffield United

Chris Wilder will take a Sheffield United XI side to face our local non-league neighbours. The fixture at Bracken Moor is the first of this summer’s friendly fixture line-up, and like last year may field a different side in each half.

United supporters will be eager to see the new signings. At the time of writing the Blades have made just four additions; defenders Enda Stevens (from Portsmouth) and George Baldock (MK Dons, midfielder Nathan Thomas (Hartlepool United) and former striker Ched Evans (Chesterfield).

The former Northampton boss hasn't been keen to allow many players leave the club. Marc McNulty (Coventry City, Stephen Scougall (St Johnstone), Graham Kelly (Port Vale) and Jay O'Shea (Bury) have all left in permanent deals. Meanwhile Ben Whiteman (Doncaster Rovers) and keeper George Long (AFC Wimbledon) have both left on a season's long loan deal.

Stocksbridge Park Steels have bolstered their squad this summer following the signings of striker Ryan Carroll (from Maltby Main) and midfielder Richard Stirrup, formerly of the Sheffield Wednesday Academy. Meanwhile manager Chris Hilton will say goodbye to highly rated midfielder Harrison Biggins who will attempt to follow in the footsteps of Jamie Vardy after completing a move to League Out outfit Fleetwood Town this week.

The Steels play in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Division One, along with Sheffield FC, and are just four promotions away from the Football League.
