The Blades currently lay just one point a play-off place with only stuttering Cardiff City above them, and whilst the Bluebirds are struggling to find points to cement their place in the top six, United haven't won away from home since early December and with two crucial fixtures away from Bramall Lane.

Selhurst Park and London Road are the venues for the Cutlers next two Coca-Cola Championship with both sides at the foot of the table and virtually inside the bottom three.

Sheffield United will be looking top stake six points from these two fixtures ahead of a home tie with Queens Park Rangers little more than a week away and I believe that it's in midfield with tough tackling Nick Montgomery where the game will be won.

He successfully stood in as vice-captain recently in the fixtures against Derby County, Preston North End, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest with Chris Morgan nursing a hip injury.

Though the former Barnsley skipper has returned from injury and should line-up alongside on-loan Arsenal defender Kyle Bartley in London this weekend it is expected that Monty will be the main man in midfield to win those crucial tackles.

Leeds born Montgomery came through the youth ranks at the Lane, making his debut as a substitute in a 4-2 defeat at Norwich City in October 2000 and has since made 251 (+ 72) appearances for the club and has surprisingly netted nine goals.

This season, due to injury and suspension he has only managed 29 (+1) games for United but has played a crucial part in each of those games.

He may not be a creative player and his abilities lay rather unconvincing over than being a tough tackler but it's the middle of the park where most of the play will be consumed!

Despite the Blades misfortunes away from Bramall Lane, I believe that the Blades faithful can claim seven points out of the next three fixtures which should prove enough to push the S2 side back into the top six.
