Willo is suffering with an injury which has ruined his plans throughout pre-season. Meanwhile Jamie Ward and Lee Hendrie will not be at the Gaffer's disposal with both being suspended - both from their play-off final red cards.

Kyle Walker returned from international duty only a few days ago, so he is touch and go, as is strike partners Darius Henderson and Ched Evans. If the duo are not fit enough to play, Kevin Blackwell may have to turn to transfer listed Billy Sharp.

New signings Kyel Reid, Andy Taylor, Leigh Bromby, Keith Treacy, Ryan France and Mark Bunn are all in contention. The latter has fierce competition for his shot-stopping position, Ian Bennett and Justin Haber are looking to deputise the unavailable Paddy Kenny.

Kevin Blackwell said: "The lads know the team and we are looking forward to getting on with it, although I am disappointed that Lee Williamson has not made it because I wanted to change things in midfield.

"Kyle Walker has joined us again after England U19 duty and he will bring quality to the squad, but with Ward and Hendrie suspended and Henderson and Evans only being 'touch and go' I have to consider whether to play either of them for at least part of the game."

Boro are without a number of key players. Brad Jones and Matthew Bates are both ruled out, but new recruit Leroy Lita is poised to face the side who has rejected twice in the space of eight months.
