Speaking on his freaky injury, he said: "I damaged my knee but it was very early to tell the severity of it. I think somebody got misquoted somewhere saying it was my cruciate, but the next game I was on the bench!

"Something didn't feel quite right on the day and I think I stopped myself from getting a long-term injury by coming off early."

Treacy says Kevin Blackwell's idea of exploiting a few different things can have a positive impact with the current form United are in, especially on the wings where the Blackburn loanee plays his trade of course.

He said: "It's tough when you aren't playing. I felt that I did OK when I was playing, but we are going through a sticky patch right now and we need to try different things to get it right.

"If the gaffer thinks he can switch me around with Cressy (Richard Cresswell) then It's not for me to say that he's doing it wrong - it's his option. I'm beginning to get back into the starting eleven now so hopefully we can start winning.

"We know that we are in a sticky patch at the moment, but all of the lads have been saying it's not how you start, it's how you finish. If you win a couple of games you are right back up at the top, but if you lose a couple you are hanging on for dear life.

Commenting on Chris Hughton's Newcastle, he finished: "They are a decent team and are quite strong. They are a very good passing team. They have adapted well to life in the Championship and are going to be tough to beat, but we'll try our best to win."
