Blades Teen Makes Welsh Team

Evans, 14 from Wath-upon-Dearne has been a member of the Blades Academy since the age of ten and recently travelled to Switzerland to play for the Wales Under-16 team. He qualifies to play for Wales through his father Ian and grandparents who originate from there.

Centre-Half played a full 90 minutes against Belgium (lost 0-2) and the second half of a match against host nation Switzerland (lost 0-1) at the Stade Municipal Payerne in a five day event and was unfortunate not to find the net after reports suggested; '...a Ioan Evans thunderous strike from 25 yards which brought out the best in the outstanding Switzerland goalkeeper.'

The news comes as great credit to Sheffield United and all those who work tremendously hard in bringing through the next generation of talent which has seen Matt Lowton and Harry Maguire recently become a success in the first team; maybe young Evans will be on the team sheet in 2018!
