Wigan Athletic vs. Sheffield United

Blades U-21 coach Chris Morgan will be looking for a victory in this game, they haven't won since 8 January when they recorded a 1-0 win over Wigan; since in - in the seven matches played have managed to obtain three draws against; Nottingham Forest (1-1), Sheffield Wednesday (2-2) and our last outing Leicester City (1-1). Against the Owls United had led by two goals but allowed our City rivals to come back and level.

Players such as Elliott Whitehouse, Terry Kennedy, Callum McFadzean and Joe Ironsode, all of which have featured in first team games this season may feature but will however be without midfielder Diego DeGirolamo (knee) through injury. Through competition rules United are able to field one goalkeeper and three outfield players over the age of 21 and therefore may see some fringe players on the team sheet.

Following our game against the Latics the Blades have three more fixtures left to play, they face Barnsley (a) on 3 April and Leeds United at Shirecliffe (9 April) as well as a home fixture against Birmingham City to re-arrange.

Wigan Athletic haven't won a league match since they beat Barnsley (2-1) at there Oakwell Training Ground on 28th Janaury and have since recorded a defeat to Nottingham Forest (0-1) and Sheffield Wednesday (1-2) as well as draws to Leeds United (2-2) and Crewe Alexandra (1-1). Against Leeds they had to come from behind after Dominic Poleon had given the West Yorkshire side a third minute lead - he is currently on loan with the Bramall Lane club.
