Scunthorpe United vs. Sheffield United -Part 1

Last updated : 23 September 2016 By @blades_mad1889

Following an unimpressive start to the 2016/17 season, the Blades have now completed four straight victories which had seen united rocket from the bottom four up to 6th spot in League One. With victories over Oxford United (2-1), Gillingham (2-1), and AFC Wimbledon (3-2) and at home to Peterborough United (1-0) last Saturday, the Blades will be looking to stretch their run to five games.

Matt Done's first-half goal clinched Sheffield United a 1-0 victory over Peterborough and a fourth straight league win. Striker Done scored for the second successive match and his 13th-minute effort lifted the Blades into the top six. The hosts were on top in the early stages of the game with Billy Sharp putting a first-time effort off-target, Daniel Lafferty seeing his drive deflected wide and Done forcing visiting goalkeeper Luke McGee into a superb reflex save.

Done struck the game's only goal, steering the ball past McGee at the near post after meeting Kieron Freeman's low cross. Peterborough's Chris Forrester then had a long-range shot deflected wide while Blades goalkeeper Simon Moore produced a fine save down to his right to keep out Paul Taylor's shot on the turn. Blades substitute Stefan Scougall went close to scoring a second goal for the home side in the second half when his 20-yard effort was palmed wide by McGee.

Moore protected his side's lead when he pulled off a great save to keep out Gwion Edwards' close-range shot and also stopped efforts from Forrester and Marcus Maddison as Peterborough chased an equaliser.

Blades boss Chris Wilder could hand a full debut to striker Caolan Lavery who made his debut off the substitutes bench last Saturday, through that would mean taking the place of either captain Billy Sharp or in-form Matt Done, whom has been on target for the last two matches. As will former Iron's striker Leon Clarke who was rested at the weekend.
