Sheffield United goalkeeper Alan Hodgkinson is well beaten by a cross-shot from Huddersfield Town centre-forward Dave hickson (extreme right) in the second replay of the FA Cup thrid round tie at Maine Road. The ball hit the post and rebounded to Huddersfield Town wing half, who scored the equalising goal. A later goal by Hickson gave Huddersfield Town victory by two goals to one.

The Blades were dumped out of the FA Cup by our Yorkshire rivals from the West. The initial fixture had seen the pair draw 0-0 at the Terriers former Leeds Road Ground on 7th January before recording a 1-1 draw at Bramall Lane five days later. Prior to the FA Cup United beat Barnsley 5-0 and a similar result was recorded at Leicester City just days prior to the replay at Manchester City's Maine Road stadium. This time it was United on the losing end :(.
