Iffy Blades Beat Sorry Clarets

What I did not know was that it was the Blades first victory at Turf Moor since 1974, the defeat left the Clarets at the foot of the table still without a point.

The goal came from summer signing Iffy Onoura who stuck in his first goal of 2002/03 season in 35th minute.

Iffy was set up on edge of the area and is low shot took a deflection which found the back of the net, leaving goalkeeper Michopoulos stood still.

United had been attacking since kick-off and winning a corner within 1st minute, though keeper caught McGovern's cross with ease.

Jon-Paul McGovern had first shot of the match, but was not good enough to beat the keeper, Jagielka also had a shot not long after but that too was not good enough as it just went wide.

Ex- Blade Gareth Taylor went into referee's book after a bad challenge on Robert Kozluk. Glen Little nearly scored but Paddy Kenny pulled off a great save.

Before half-time whistle Michael Tonge and Stuart McCall both went into book.

At half-time Lenny Johnrose came on for Paul Weller for Burnley.

Half-Time: Burnley 0-1 Sheffield United

In second half Blades defender Robert Kozluk tried his luck when he hit a 35 yard out shot which went wide.

Burnley begun to make chances and Kenny had to make game saving saves at both Alan Moore and Johnroses effort.

United however were not going to sit back and wait for final whistle, Tonge test Clarets keeper and Steve Yates just headed wide from a McGovern corner.

Burnley grew more impatient as they searched for a equalizer, but keeper Kenny saved anything that was going goal wards, just as he did at Little's shot from the left.

In the third minute of injury time, Little had another change to draw level and nearly did but for Paddy Kenny's World Class save which helped give United the three points they deserved.

Full-Time: Burnley 0-1 Sheffield United

Man of the Match: I did not go to the game so it is difficult to give out a MOTM award to anyone. Onoura deserved one because he scored but I think Paddy Kenny has to have it after he saved the day for the Blades.
