The Beatt too Sharp for Burnley

Beattie's free-kick was identical to the one he scored on Tuesday night against Sheffield Wednesday, While Billy Sharp's header recorded his 4th league goal of the season.

The Blades started brightly and it looked like that the Clarets were there for the taking. United put pressure early on as Tonge's cross met Beattie who's header was tipped over the bar by Brian Jensen.

Lafferty had a long-range shot blocked as Unsworth fouled Cotterill 30 yards away from goal. The free-kick took place identical to the spot in the Sheffield Wednesday game. Beattie ran up to the ball and smashed it into the top corner in front of the Claret fans and put it pass Jensen.

Beattie for England and other chants involving his name were rung around the away end where the Blades fans were situated. Burnley responded straight away as a cross by Cole met Lafferty but his shot was only just saved on the line by Paddy Kenny.

David Unsworth got boo's from the United faithful throughout the game but he nearly stunned them as his header at the back post just went wide. While we are on the subject of Unsworth, a choice of words were sung by the Blades supporters to Unsworth.

The Blades players got applaused at half-time as they went in 1:0 up. Burnley were the strongest when play resumed as several shots were blocked and saved by the Blades back line and Kenny.

Cotterill broke down the touchline and crossed a superb ball into the back post which was met by Billy Sharp as he netted his 4th in a Blades shirt.

The game approached the final 10 minutes and Burnley scored. Andy Cole's shot was poked into the corner of the net and beat Kenny which meant pressure were on United for the latter stages of the game.

Throughout the game the referee gave ome very starnge decisions against United. A great reflex save by Paddy Kenny in the dying seconds of the game meant that the Blades went back across the wet Pennines with all 3 points.
