Town destroy unbeaten record

Gary Speed's powerful header opened the scoring but former Blade Danny Cadamarteri equalised. The game turned out to have a winner when Keigan Parker's superb volley wrapped up the win for Town.

Booth wanted to add to the assists for Huddersfield when his three lay-offs nearly turned into goals. Former United pair Lucketti and Cadamarteri combined together but Cadamarteri could only scramble the ball over the 6 yard box.

Town kept pressing when Roberts shot wasn't too far off target. That subsequently lead to the Blades first chance of the encounter. Cotterill marked his return in a red and white shirt blasting over the bar after Stephen Quinn's neat touch.

United's backline were kept on their toes when the Terriers corner deflected into Kennys palms. Cotterill had a run down the flank past former Wigan team mate David Unsworth. Cotterill's pace outclassed the former Blades defender but Unsworth could retrieve back and win a goal-kick.

Halford made an impact once again with his weapon of a throw-in. His long-range throw met the head of the rising Gary Speed and he could thump his header down past the goalkeeper.

The Blades continued dominating when another chance arose. Naysmith, Stead and Quinn all combined to put an effort together but that was cleared away by Unsworth.

Robert's chance skimmed Kenny's crossbar while Town equalised on 28 minutes. Flynn's header was directed to Cadamarteri who slotted past Kenny into the back of the net despite the Irish international getting a touch.

Kenny's kick met Jon Stead who could flick-on to fellow strike partner Billy Sharp but he was challenged and well tackled when he was going to have a pop at Huddersfield's goal. The heavens opened which made the surface slippery and the ball moving fast on the ground.

The brief shower then stopped after five minutes. The Blades were given food for thought when the Terriers were pressing for a winner. After the interval
it was United who came out of the traps the best.

Cotterill on his run was fouled when Quinn also had a free-kick awarded. Halford's effort was well wide from the 20 yard mark. The goal the Blades scored previously in the game was nearly repeated but Speed's header this time just missed the target.

A brawl occurred when Flynn went in heavy on Halford but the referee calmed the situation down when speaking to the two. It was stop start for the next 10 minutes when dozens of substitutions were made by both camps.

When approaching the 80th minute mark it was Huddersfield who broke away and scored the decisive goal. Keigan Parker thumped his volley down low past Kenny and wrapped up the victory for the West Yorkshire side.

Due Parker's winning goal, United's unbeaten record in pre-season now comes to a halt. Below are the senior team results from this seasons pre-season games.
